OceanLook B and B is nestled amongst majestic cedar and tall Douglas fir just 9 km from the ferry, 4 km from the heart of Gibsons, and 150m from the ocean's edge.
Your suite at OceanLook includes a private entrance, private deck, sitting area and an ensuite bath with a soaker tub for two. The suites are located on an exclusive floor of the house overlooking the ocean. The grounds include a hot tub and are landscaped for your privacy.
The Experience
You're on Sunshine Coast time now, time to relax, unwind and rediscover romance.
Your day begins with a sumptuous breakfast served in the fire warmed dining room or, on the teak furnished sundeck, both overlooking the ocean. Breakfast includes a fresh fruit plate, a delicious hot entree such as smoked salmon roulade, and home-made baking served hot from the oven.
After your breakfast
- Go for a walk on the oceanfront esplanade, or a stroll on the beach, both located just steps from the house.
- Borrow our bikes for a ride to the funky shops of lower Gibsons.
- Experience the tranquility of ocean kayaking; or, have Jim show you how to build a cedar strip kayak in the workshop.
- Try one of the three local golf courses - the Sunshine Coast is known as The Golf Coast of Canada, visit the Skookumchuk rapids and experience the world's fastest tiderips, charter a boat and try to reel in a twenty-pound salmon, go scuba diving in the clear waters of the world famous Sechelt Inlet
...Or just relax on your private deck counting the eagles soaring by.
A short stroll for a fine dinner at the Chez Philippe restaurant for West Coast dining perfectly compliments your day or, take a five minute drive to the quaint restaurants of Gibsons including Molly's Reach, home of the Beachcombers. When you return, watch cruise ships sail past while you relax in the hot tub. Then, fall asleep in your pillow laden bed to the sound of waves lapping on the shore and the moon's glint on the ocean.
The House
Your serenity, privacy and romance provided the foundation for OceanLook's design.
Completed in 2002, OceanLook B&B was planned, designed and built specifically to be your romantic Sunshine Coast getaway. Your hosts, Jim and Claudia, with the help of local architect, Peter Treuheit, have created a home whose design and construction contribute to your peaceful retreat.
The house's architecture is a reflection of the Sunshine Coast, modern amenities are fused with old world charm and west coast style...
- Rough cut cedar, milled a few miles up the coast, adorns the home's exterior, entryway and decks;
- High pitched roof evoke a European cottage charm,
- Western maple, felled during construction and milled on site, provides some of the millwork.
A common sitting area includes comfortable chairs, wrap around windows and a river rock fireplace, the perfect place to enjoy a good book or a chat with your fellow guests.

- A hot tub hides behind a rose covered lattice, bordered by the forest, and overlooks the ocean, providing you a secluded place to soak away stress.
- A woodland path leads to an oceanfront esplanade enticing you to a day of exploring. A short walk down the esplanade is a pathway leading to a beautiful walking beach
- Your private deck with two big Adirondack chairs provides the perfect place to open that good book you've been meaning to start. But watch out, the eagles soaring by, a cruise ship sailing past, or the
deer eating the roses from Claudia's garden may
distract you.
Pilliated woodpeckers, bald eagles, cormorants, white tail deer and heron are frequent visitors to the property. That odd barking sound you may hear... sea lions talking on a nearby rock.
The Rooms

Located on an exclusive floor of the house, the luxurious suites give you a stunning ocean view from every window. The suites include private entrance, private deck, sitting area, TV,VCR, a luxurious pillow laden queen sized bed, and an ensuite bath with soaker tub for two. Open the ensuite curtains to enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean while taking your soothing bath.
Pull up a chair in your private sitting area and reacquaint yourself with your loved one or, if that is too stressful, absorb yourself in a good book or video chosen from our collection.
A recent addition to the rooms is artwork consigned by noted local artists, Ed Hill and Miro Kot. Ed and Miro's works have been chosen as they reflect the serenity and natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast, your surroundings. If you are interested in learning more about the artists, we will be happy to arrange for you to meet over coffee or at their studios.
