Our cottage is a new two-bedroom vacation home built on a hillside with a stunning oceanview to the east and mountains to the west. One bedroom has a double bed and one has two single beds, both with ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen is complete with dishes, cooking utensils, fridge and stove.In general, we describe the Island in the area of Calibishie as being rural. It is the kind of place where you can walk along dirt roads through the jungle to take pictures of birds and plants or walk the paved road into the village for groceries. Our teenage children timed the walk to Hodges Beach at approximately 10 minutes (their pace). Pointe Baptiste Beach and Woodford Hill Beach are also nearby. There is a post office, grocery store, Credit Union, and a couple of restaurants in the village of Calibishie. The town of Portsmouth has a PADI Dive center and other tourist attractions you will find on the Dominica website. To explore the island you can either rent a vehicle and drive to places of personal interest or hire a local man to taxi you about.There is also bus transportation available nearby.
