Our Village is on the Route de Vin and the nearby Chateau of Monbazillac is probably one of the most famous in France. Monbazillac wines were once the sweet wines of Britain's Royal Family, in fact if you look around the Chateau you will see a photograph of the Queen Mother, taken on a visit some years ago.
The first thing you notice about a good Monbazillac is the colour - as gold as the sun, this colour is enhanced as it deepens with age. Monbazillac can reach 15° alcohol content quite easily - I've even seen 18°. Only certain vintages are good enough to produce a true Monbazillac with a nose of honey and acacia.
