L’Ancienne Poste is a luxury rental property in the heart of Ménerbes, a peaceful village in the beautiful Luberon region of Provence. As its name suggests, the house is a former post office – now elegantly restored and stylishly furnished, yet still partaking of this protected building’s original historic charm.
At 5,000 square feet (450 square meters) the house boasts a generous courtyard, a rooftop terrace,access to a pool, incredible views of the Luberon Valley from every bedroom and bathroom. Its spacious interior has been tastefully refashioned in a sophisticated, contemporary style that enhances the original architecture – including walls of brick, terracotta, stone from the local quarry and even wine bottles. Best of all, the design allows Provence’s magical light, the inspiration of so many painters, to bathe the interior of the house.
L’Ancienne Poste has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate up to 10 people. A typical group might consist of a number of close friends who want to share a Provençal home base, or a mix of couples and children – young visitors are more than welcome. Alternatively, L’Ancienne Poste would be ideal for one gregarious couple wishing to host various guests at an “open house in Provence” for a couple of weeks or longer.
In its past life as the village post office, L’Ancienne Poste was always a point of communication and interaction – a place where friends, acquaintances and visitors would chat, gossip, exchange views and share the local news as they waited in line to get their mail.

Utilities

- Any telephone, fax or internet charges incurred during your rental will be noted from an itemized bill and deducted from your security deposit at the end of the rental period. We recommend the use of a calling card for competitively priced international calls.

LA PETITE MAISON
This small house immediately adjacent to L’Ancienne Poste is available for rent at selected times (i.e., when Philippe, the owner of L’Ancienne Poste, is travelling). La Petite Maison has a mezzanine living room, kitchen-breakfast area, large bedroom and troglodyte shower with WC. It’s the perfect spot for an extra pair of in-laws or grown-up children who want their independence.
NEXT STEPS
Step 1: Please fill out the Reservation Request. Indicate what weeks you would like to reserve and please select some alternative dates in case your first choice if unavailable. Submit the Reservation Request via fax or mail using the contact information below.
Step 2: We will confirm the availability of the dates you requested by return e-mail, fax or regular mail. We will also send you our standard Terms & Conditions and our standard Risk, Release and Indemnity Form
Step 3: We will only confirm your reservation upon receipt of:
- a deposit (30% of the total cost of your stay),
- the signed Terms & Conditions
- the Risk, Release and Indemnity Form signed by all adult guests
Step 4: Shortly after receipt of your deposit, the signed Terms & Conditions and our Risk, Release and Indemnity Form signed by all adult guests we will mail you a package - complete with a list of the optional events that you may wish to reserve – to help you prepare for your vacation at L’Ancienne Poste.
Step 5. The balance of your payment will be due 95 days prior to the start of your stay. At this time we will also require payment of the refundable Security Deposit of USD $1500 for every week or partial week of your rental period.
Cancellation:
You may cancel your reservation (written notification is required) without penalty for a full refund (less a USD $300 administration fee) up to 6 months prior to the start of your stay. After this date, all moneys received become non-refundable. (The only exceptions to this cancellation policy are all high-season rentals. In these cases all booking deposits are non-refundable upon remittance.)
Mandatory security deposit:
We request a Security Deposit of USD $1500 for every week or partial week of your rental period. We will deduct any charges deemed necessary for extra cleaning, furniture repairs, replacement of lost or broken items, damage to or theft of bikes, extra services, telephone charges etc
Risk & Release?
We require all adult guests to sign and return our standard Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Indemnity Form as a prerequisite to any stay at L’Ancienne Poste.
