is furnished with country primitives and antiques and has a fully equipped kitchen. Guests enjoy the use of a private pier, canoe,and the opportunity to take lessons or ride horses. Guests are encouraged to bring their own horse(s)- barn stall and pasture available. This country setting is perfect for a relaxing get away from any city/work environment, yet offers the chance for visitors to enjoy the quaint city of Nathchitoches just 10 minutes away, the trails of Kisatchie National Forest and Bayou just 20 minutes away, and tours of several plantations just minutes away. Fishing is excellent and guests can launch their personal bass/ski rigs at Shell Beach public boat launch just 1 1/2 miles from the cabin. Special therapeutic weekends can be planned for couples and families who have healing issues - want to explore risk-taking, intimacy, resolving conflict. Couples have the opportunity to enhance their relationship using equine-assisted therapy with the guidance of a Licensed Mental Health Profession. Through the use of specifically designed equine activities, couples (and families) can explore personal challenges and develop skills to enhance their relationship. Children with special emotional, cognitive, and physical challenges are welcomed with their parents. Equine therapy is a gentle, yet powerful, form of experiental therapy; combined with the peaceful setting, guests realize great personal growth in this nurturing environment.
