Comfortably equipped for all seasons, this four bedroom cape is located in a peacefull and unspoiled Downeast setting just a short distance from Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Blue Hill, Ellsworth, Milbridge, airport, hospital,etc. A pleasant blend of yesterdays charm and todays conveniences enhance the grace of this vintage home. The Moore House is spacious enough to accomodate larger families, folks attending weddings, holidays, and family reunions, friends vacationing together,etc., yet cozy enough for less. A large yard with perennial gardens, a BBQ area, and a pond are just a few of the recreational opportunities on site. A short meadow road leads to our private gravel beach that gently slopes into the ocean-perfect for children to make their oceanside discoveries. From here, you can set out from our own shorefront to hike and fish along Maine's wild rocky shore. Or canoe or kayak to explore nearby coastal islands and village harbors, watch lobstermen fish their traps, and discover abundant wildlife on land and sea. Picinic and sunbathe on our secluded vista enjoying nature and the moods of the sea at an unhurried pace. Take a nature walk on our 50 acres of private, prime Maine woods to the heath that beholds beavers, birds, wildlife and plants unique to Maine's pristine freshwaters. Identify native plants, or pick unsprayed blueberries along the way if they are ripe! The Moore House is located 1/2 mile off of US Rte 1 in the coastal village of Steuben, 25 miles east of Ellsworth. An easy stroll from the house will take you to the village square, where you will find the town library, church, grammar school with playground. A convience store is 1/4 mile from the Village Center. Milbridge is the closest larger town- 7 miles east. Nearby there are local events such as lobster boat races, Acadia National Park, festivals and fairs, whale watching, kayak and canoe rentals, freshwater recreational areas (including Donnell Pond Public Reserved Land) for water sports, fishing, ice fishing, skating, swimming, snowmobiling (including access to ITS 81-interconnected trail system), 2 hour ferry to Nova Sciota, Petit Manan Nature Preserve and Wildlife Refuge, Galleries full of Maine made gifts, wares, pottery, crafts, etc. Weekly rates only June 30 thru August 31.
