Belle of the Bends Bed and Breakfast Inn is located on a bluff near the Mississippi River in the Historic Riverview Garden District of Vicksburg. The home is a stunning all brick Italianate mansion built in 1876 by Mississippi State Senator Murray Smith. The interior of the Belle of the Bends features ornate Bavarian Plaster crown mouldings as well as original gold leaf mouldings throughout most of the mansion. It is the only home in the area with breathtaking oval arched curved woodwork and trim. The staircase is grand and is considered to be the most beautiful one in Vicksburg. Several original chandeliers adorn the home as well as many original furnishings. The antiques are exquisite throughout.
Guests enjoy the double verandahs that wrap around three sides of the mansion complete with wicker porch swings and rocking chairs where the birds seranade our guests and where guests may watch the Mississippi Queen River Boat paddle her way down the river. The gardens are magnificient with several trees and plantings over 160 years old including a crepe myrtle and majestic Ginko tree. Beautiful flagstone benches adorn the gardens as well as a wrought iron gazebo and wrought iron loveseat and chairs nestled under a stately Magnolia Tree. All guest suites are furnished with beautiful antiques. Each suite has a private bath with marble floors and have all amenities including plush terry cloth bathrobes and hairdryers. Complimentary check in beverages are provided in each suite. Each suite has it's own air conditioning and heat controls as well as beautiful decorative fireplaces and sitting areas. A scrumptious full southern breakfast is served each morning in the elegant dining room complete with candlelight and soft music. Guests may relax in the guest retreat located on the 2nd floor that offers elegant, comfortable seating, books, games and movies that are available for guests to use in their suite as each suite has a TV and VCR.
