Situated in the heart of Amsterdam, with merely five walking minutes from the city-centre, we would love to welcome you as our guest to The Lodge. Our guesthouse lies in the oldest quarter of Amsterdam which is famous for its cosy cafes, bars and restaurants and even more famous for its dinky yet chique little businesses. This area, de Jordaan (The Garden) is aptly named, since this part of the city is created by many tiny streets and canals filled with atmosphere and ambience which captures the heart of Amsterdam.
About the Lodge.
The Lodge is situated on the first and second floor in de Eerste Boomdwarsstraat, in between de Westerstraat and de Lindengracht which are two of the main shopping streets in de Jordaan. The Guesthouse also lies directly behind de Noorderkerk (North church).
With the city so full of culture, it is sometimes difficult to plan your itinerary. Therefore, we have devoted one room in the building for the purpose of sharing our assistance and knowledge with our guests. The living room is purely structured to share information about the city. We have information at hand with guide books about tourism, should you feel the urge to explore.
In the living, there is also a possibility of using the internet, should you wish to do so. Here, you can also meet and greet the other guests staying at the Lodge, and swap your interests and knowledge with one another.
The area.
Every Monday and Saturday, an open market takes place on de Westerstraat and in front of de Noorderkerk (North Church). Here you will find all sorts of products on offer, ranging from household goods, to clothing and even pets! These markets are run by the locals and will give you the true feeling of Amsterdam friendliness. The biggest and most well known fleemarket is Waterlooplein, which you can reach in 10 minutes taking the route of the quaint and peaceful canals.
The Lodge is also just five minutes walk from the Anne Frank House. Here you can also find canal trips and boat rentals. And of course, the tram and bus lines which bring you directly to major tourist attractions, such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh and Stedelijk Museum.
The city centre and Dam Square, where you will find the Royal Palace, is also just moments away. Here you will find the main high street shopping areas.
For nightlife lovers, Leidseplein and Rembrandtsplein are also within walking distance. These areas are tourist attractions simply due to the fact that there are loads of bars, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs within a small range of each other.
The rooms.
The Lodge can offer you a welcome stay in one of our cosily decorated bedrooms.
Each room has a theme attached, depending on the decor, structure and uniqueness.
For example, the Blue Room has the largest bathroom including a bath, the Red Room has its own entrance to a large roof terrace (at this moment under construction), which overlooks de Jordaan, and the Ivy Room has its own privacy of a quaint garden terrace with a beautiful Ivy tree over-hanging.
All rooms are equipped with own private bathroom facilities. In each room you will find a comfortable double bed, a television,
a safety deposit box for your personal belongings, and a mini-fridge. In addition, all bedrooms also offer an internet connection. All rooms sleep two persons.
