The Beach House combines beach house features with modern conveniences. Situated within 10 minutes of the capital city of St. John's, it offers breathtaking views of the ocean, where you can often see whales, icebergs and seabirds, along our rugged coastline.

People are always looking for things that are hard to find. An old beach house retreat is one of them. A wooden house with a large deck overlooking the sea... comfortable chairs for lounging... lots of windows to watch the whales and sea life, windows that catch the sea breezes.... freedom to curl up with a good book and drift off into a nap... a comfortable place to sip a hot or cold drink while watching the sunset fill the sky... and a big bed in which to sleep and snuggle.
As the frantic pace of modern life drains us, taking some time for ourselves is especially important. The seashore is where the sky, land, and water all come together. It’s a place that’s soothing and invigorating. It slows us down and wakes us up. It helps us remember who we are... and who we want to be.
We invite you to our special place, and we offer you the kind of experience that we like - an easy and informal atmosphere, no responsibilities, good food, and the freedom to pass the time as you wish. We balance leaving you alone with taking care of you. We want a three-day getaway at The Beach House to give you a week’s worth of relaxation.

The Beach House overlooks Conception Bay, home to many species of animals. As such you will observe them in their natural habitat. Certain times during the year capelin will roll on the beach in front of the house and you will see whales up real close from your deck for a number of months during the year. During the winter you may see seals on the ice, and icebergs will occasionally drift by. Many species of birds can be seen at any time.

No smoking in the house, please. You may smoke on the porches, provided that you are mindful of which way the breeze is blowing so that your smoke does not bother others, or pollute the house inside. If you do, we will be obliged to add to your charge the cost of having the room thoroughly cleaned and fumigated. Please help us by observing this rule.

We say our house is a - no TV, and no shoes zone. You can wear your shoes and you can watch TV - but you get the idea – we want you to be carefree while you stay with us. We've noticed that people unwind better if they are tuned into the sea, the sky, the wildlife, etc. We've also noticed that a TV set can usually get someone to turn it on... even if no one is quite sure how or why! We also know that some folks cannot rest unless they check on their email, so we do provide a computer that is internet ready with High Speed access. So, during your stay at The Beach House you can have all these things, but we can hide them at your request. We can even hide the phone. To fill your time you'll find games and puzzles, books and magazines, that is if you can get away from gazing out the windows at the sea sights.

Your Beach House is your private space while you are renting from us, and we'll protect your privacy by never entering without your permission.

Situated in Portugal Cove, Conception Bay, Newfoundland, it offers breathtaking views of the ocean, and several islands in Conception Bay. Outside is a large wraparound deck. Inside our property you'll find large living/dining/kitchen room combination, large bedrooms, large bathrooms, ample closet space and lots of storage space. The kitchen is fully equipped and it has a full size stove, pots and pans and cooking utensils as well as a microwave. We also provide the basic ingredients for cooking such as salt, sugar, pepper, flour and tea and coffee. There are several excellent convenience stores in the area, where you can buy mostly anything else you need, or you can arrive with your groceries. You can consult the map provided to see the locations of these stores. Should you arrive without groceries we do have a limited supply of some items on hand until you acquire your own.

If you want to roam, you can go to many places from your Beach House. You can catch the ferry to Bell Island, travel many of the local sightseeing trails, south to St. John’s for shopping and all kinds of entertainment. Both Mount Pearl and St. Johns are within a 15 minute drive and they both offer many choices for shopping, dinner and dancing. A variety of golf courses are nearby. Biking, hiking, kayaking, historic sites, blueberry festivals, folk festivals are all within your reach, and we try to provide you with the latest information that is available in an information package always available at The Beach House.
