In 1988 the Richardson Brothers of Wellsville, New York were determined to create a world class wildlife preserve and hired a group of local artisans to construct a lodge reminiscent of the great Adirondack hunting camps of yesteryear. Today the lodge is the centerpiece of a 750 acre reserve that contains a variety of wildlife from the ubiquitous gray squirrel to the majestic black bear. As you enter the property the first thing you will notice is the complete privacy you will be afforded during your stay. This privacy will be accompanied by all the modern day comforts that you have come to expect in a first class lodge. There are three floors of living space for you and your guests to enjoy. On the first floor you will find an activity room equipped with a wet bar, gas burning stove, bathroom, and laundry room. Here you will notice several pictures on the wall that will take you back to the glory days of Allegany County when the oil industry was king. On the second floor you will be greeted with vaulted ceilings of tongue and groove pine and a magnificent floor to ceiling field stone fire place in the center of the great room. You will undoubtedly notice the superb collection of local wildlife art that includes representations of most of the local wildlife you are apt to encounter during your stay. A private bedroom and bathroom and full kitchen complete the second floor. The third floor is a loft that sleeps four and opens to the great room below. Adjacent to the great room is an expansive outside deck that is perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Our wildlife preserve has miles of trails for you to explore. Whether you are a mountain biker or simply a boots and walking stick hiker we have a wide range of trails to suit any outdoor enthusiast. Wander through our woodlands and catch fleeting glimpses of whitetail deer, eastern wild turkey, gray/red fox, coyote, various species of song birds and raptors and even the occasional black bear. If you love the outdoors - you will love Knights Creek Lodge.
