A secluded idyl on the Hudson River in the Adirodacks since 1974. Reasonable rates. Step back in time and enjoy an Adirondack experience. Country Road Lodge, just three miles from the town of Warrensburg, enjoys the peace, quiet, and solitude of a bygone day. Situated in a sheltered scenic valley at the edge a thousand-acre wild forest, we offer a retreat from the frenetic pace of today's world. You can soak up the ambience from our comfortable living room with its panoramic view of the river and mountains beyond and comforting fire in the woodstove on chilly days, or from our screened gazebo with warm summer breezes. Stroll around our extensive perennial gardens, or along riverside and brookside trails. The birds at the feeder you watched from the breakfast table may accompany you, or just continue with their activity as you pass. (April through June is a wonderful time to experience their mating and nest building!) If we're lucky, a flock of wild turkeys will nibble their way across our front lawn, or the resident bald eagle will grace us with its presence high overhead. Adventure further into the evergreen and deciduous forest on old logging trails or let us direct you to marked hiking trails and canoe access/rentals. (An occasional canoeist or kayaker may paddle by the lodge, along a fifteen-mile stretch of the Hudson that has seen little additional human intrusion in the past hundred years.) For those who can take this tranquility only so long, Warrensburg is a bucolic nineteenth century hamlet located along the Schroon River, with small shops, nice restaurants, tree-lined residential streets and modest, friendly people. Show an interest in them and their history, and you will make new friends. You won't even know that you are only ten minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Lake George Village, with its lake cruises, Italian restaurants, arcades, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the Adirondacks!
