Stronvar House

 Featured Vacation Rental in Perthshire, Scotland

Historic Scottish Laird's Mansion sleeps 12 in grand and spacious selfcatering vacation rental accommodation in the mountains of a secluded glen and loch in Scotland's National Park. A family and friends gathering and holiday place.
Enjoying a beautiful location in the heart of Scotland, Stronvar House offers you a unique self-catering holiday for up to 12 at an affordable price. One private unit comprising the ground and first floors of David Carnegie's major Victorian addition - the front door, entrance hall, main hall, drawing room, dining room, kitchen and main staircase leading to five en-suite bedrooms.
The accommodation is as elegant and peaceful as it was for the original Laird's guests. The modern additions of central heating and en-suite facilities make it a little more comfortable for today's guests.
Whatever your reason for visiting Scotland:
* a family gathering
* a group of discerning friends
* finding your Scottish roots
* taking in the clean mountain air
* getting away from the stress of modern life
You'll find this central location, on the shore of Loch Voil in the Braes O' Balquhidder, the ideal base.
The large entrance hall with oak staircase, leads up to the main hall. The Carnegie crest is displayed in the stained glass window, and the walls are covered with tartans from the local clans.
The oak staircase in the main hall leading to the first floor, dominates this hall. Doors lead off to the Drawing Room, and the Dining Room. The natural light supplied by the windows in the roof provide the ideal conditions to view the alabaster sculptures set in the walls and the Laird's collection of antiques and curios that deck the walls.
The Drawing Room:-
This quiet room has bay windows overlooking the gardens and mountains to the east and south. The focal point is the white marble fireplace with it's carved eagles and handpainted Delft tiles depicting sailing ships. The plaster frieze shows Neptune. This room contains a player piano with a selection of music rolls.
The Dining Room:-
 The beautiful and impressive marble fireplace, the thistle cornice and the large picture windows provide the grandeur in this room. The breakfast bar gives you breakfast with a view. The other door in this room leads to the kitchen. This modern kitchen with traditional feel provides you with the facilities to cook for your party. This long room was the servery, where the food was brought up from the kitchen to be finally prepared before serving. The original crockery cupboard has been retained and the fitted kitchen has been built to be sympathetic to this large piece of furniture.
Appliances include electric cooker, washing machine, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven and kettles. A tumble dryer is situated in the north tower.
