It is, however, known to rain for long periods from time to time, so the spring & summer months from September to April are the preferred time for good weather and maximum pleasureThe period between August and September is quite popular along the coast because this is the time that whales move into the many bay's to breed along the Cape south coast. In particular, Hermanus is famous for its whale festival in spring.Golf The list of pristine golf courses rivals any area in the country, with 10 of the countries finest 40 minutes drive or less away including: Arabella Western Cape, Hermanus, Strand, Somerset West, Erinvale Golf Estate, De Zalze at Spier, Stellenbosch, Devonvale, Pearl Valley & Bosch-en Meer.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Wine In the heart of the Western Cape Wine Route, Gordon's Bay boasts some very fine wine touring opportunities including: the prestigious Vergelegen and Lourensford wine estates.
