Persephone's Farm Retreat is located on the banks of the historic French Broad River in Sevier County, the home of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, Ripley's Acquarium, Louise Mandrel's Theater, Arrowmont School of the Arts, as well as many other exciting places of entertainment. All places of interest are within minutes traveling backroads to avoid traffic.

Persephone's is a refuge from the fast pace of life. Our guests rave about the tranquility, peace, and incredible beauty of our 108 year old Inn and totally fenced estate. Many guests return twice a year to renew and refresh. Enjoy a day of leisure resting on the hamocks, fishing the banks, reading from the many scenic resting places, walking the country road or swinging or eating lunch in the lovely gazebo. The sunrise over the mountains and the sunset over the water are sights to behold. Early risers enjoy watching the Bald Eagles fish in the early mornings and the Great Blue Herron feed their young in the rookery. Children enjoy the fun of running free in a protected estate, playing with the many animals and gathering eggs from the hen house for morning breakfasts. Sitting around a bonfire telling stories and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows is one of the highlights of a visit to Persephone's. The many out door games keep the children occupied as the parents rest and swing at the gazebo or swing or rock on the porches of the cottages.

Adults enjoy the quiet of the historic Inn. If you are a musician, we have instruments to play, period piano, and a wonderful music room. We keep the Inn for adults and families with children stay in the cottages. This arrangement has evolved from suggestions from our guests. Yearly we host family reunions with children staying at the cottages with their parents and grandmothers and other adult relatives staying in the Inn. Breakfast is served in the dining room in the Inn and brought in baskets to the cottages. The rooms in the Inn are very large with king size beds, private baths, small regrigerator, and coffee makers. Very large porches surround the Inn with wonderful views of the river. We have a large outdoor grill for family cookouts.

The cottages are self contained with all appliances in the small quaint kitchen. There is a front room with DVD player, bedroom with king size bed and bathroom with shower tub. One of the cottages is handicap accessible. Both cottages are beautifully furnished in appealing decor. One is called the Fishermen's Haven which is decorated in a more masculine theme, the other is the Begonia which is decorated with many different types of birdhouses and is more feminine in decor.

We are a no smoking facility. While we have pets on the farm, no pets are allowed in the cottages or the Inn to assure comfort for those who have allergies.
