Sojourn House is a 1/3 mile walk to the center of Vashon town. It's a one-level 1550 square foot detached house with a large back garden with patio. Well built in 1958, it has high ceilings, hardwood floors, and two newly remodeled bathrooms.
We've just renovated the kitchen , so it has brand new appliances, including microwave, full stove/oven, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, and coffee grinder. It is stocked with all the dishes, glasses, cooking pots and utensils you could want.
There are oriental rugs on the floors, two large comfy sofas in the living room, original art on the walls, some interesting antique furniture and luxurious bed linens including down comforters and 100% cotton sheets. The Master Bedroom has its own cable t.v., and a bath ensuite. This house is better furnished than many suites in 4 star hotels!
Sojourn House is stocked with lots of books, magazines, movies, and games.
Vashon Island is a step back in time from the bustle of the big cities nearby. Visit the lighthouse, go beachcombing, kayaking (rentals available), fishing, or diving. The closest public beach is about 2 miles away. Bicycle our hilly roads, play golf, or walk to a restaurant or movie in the village. This is a great equestrian island, with lots of trails (horse rentals available). Shop for art and local crafts.
Imagine a island the size of Manhattan, but with only 10,000 residents. Imagine 250 miles of paved road with only three 4-way stops, and no other traffic lights. Don't expect souvenir shops or glitz. Vashon Island is upscale rural with a large arts community. Live music in several venues every week-end. A challenging 9 hole private golf course. 4 excellent restaurants. Our only 'chain' eatery is a Subway sandwich shop. No shopping malls. You can get here by ferry, private boat or small plane. But there are no taxis or car rentals. No hotels or motels. Great views of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier.
As Sojourn House guests, you may use the Vashon Island Golf and Country Club for swimming, dining, tennis, and golf. Catch a metro bus into Seattle where the opera and theater scene is world-class, and just a ferry ride away!
